South Carolina Emergency Shelters And Food Program

friendshelpingfriends started this conversation

What is the purpose of this service?

The purpose of the Emergency Shelter Program (ESP) is to provide reimbursement to emergency and homeless shelters to ensure that each child participating in their program will receive healthy, nutritious meals.

Who can receive these services?

Children ages 18 and under are eligible to receive these services.

How are the services provided?

The meals are provided by the approved emergency and homeless shelters which include family shelters, battered women's shelters, and other facilities whose primary purpose is to provide temporary shelter to homeless families with children.

What services are offered?

Emergency shelters not only provide care to their participants but also provide meals that meet creditable program nutrition guidelines for each meal served.

How to apply?

If your program meets the requirements, then you can contact the Amanda Goins at (803) 898-0944 to schedule an on-site orientation. During the orientation, we will review the program regulations, requirements, forms and other specifics of the emergency shelter program. After the training, you have 90 days to submit a completed application and then you are on your way to receiving reimbursement for serving healthy, nutritious meals!
